• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Introductions are in order

Hey,

Not exactly new the forum as i've been delving into it for the better part of a year, and in which time I acquired a 01' GTP Coupe for 500$. Did a fair bit of front end/exhaust maintenance and she's been on the road since. Well, until last weekend when I tore the heads off to find two chipped pistons. I mean, damn were they chipped. And the cylinders not scored? Anyway, just came to say hello. Cheers.

Pretty rare for them to do any cylinder wall damage, the chip smacks the head and spark plug a few times and out the exhaust it goes.

Sucks that you need a motor now.

Often they chip on a stocker? I've yet to adjust pulley sizes or tuning, lest the previous owner did play with the computer (Unlikely)

If they never ran 91+ octane it can happen more often, so if they ran it hard alot with 87 octane it was doomed.

But it can happen to anyone even if they ran 91+ from day one, a weakness in the metal or just something out of the blue type of thing.

Walk to the junkyard, buy a motor for 400 bucks. Walk home, install, drive. Forged internals is not worth it on these motors unless you plan on breaking ZZps record which they set with a stock bottom end.. ~1000wHP. I run 18psi of boost through my stock l32
