interior dash trim question

I just got a new dash trim piece since my old one cracked and I was wondering if anyone had thoughts on how to strengthen it. It is the piece right by the lower part of the windshield with the security light, day light sensor, and if you have the hud option on your car the hud would be there. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

This must be an 04+ thang. 97-03s have a tiny little panel there. I'm guessing yours is long and thin, kinda fragile. My 69 GP has something like that. Well, theres not much you can do in the way of restoring flexibility. Painting the top would keep ultraviolet rays off the plastic but theres still the heat. Neatly layering the backside with a suitable epoxy or bumper repair material could add stiffness in areas of the part where theres room for it to be thicker. Of course if you want that to stick good, you'll need to sand and properly clean the area for proper adhesion. You can always sink some window screen or wire in the wet epoxy, too. For reinforcement. Just throwin out ideas, man. Not sure what you're dealing with but theres a couple ideas.

Yep, it's an 04+ thing, mine is the same way. Mine cracked right before my eyes while I was defrosting my windshield one day after work.

Yeah it is an 04+ thing, I was thinking something like epoxy but I think I will run into problems with that. I think I am just going to find some product to put on it with spf protection

JB weld all over the backside?

Best thing you can probably do is try to keep as much heat out. Grab one of those cheap autoshade reflectors from the parts store and throw that in the windshield.

Oh wow didnt even think about that. I think that will be the easiest thing to do so I will get one of those and call it good haha. Thanks everyone!
