Intercooler pump flow testing

I've been doing some research on intercooler pumps and have found that one pumps flows more than many others while costing less than those others.

The Stewart Components EMP 29/32 can be found on Ebay for about 300 bucks. I realize that is a lot more than the Bosch pump many people use, however this pump outperforms the Bosch by a substantial amount.

Here is a test that Lingenfelter performed on a bunch of different pumps.

On a car like these with small intercooler core and small heat exchanger size you don't need something that flows that much fluid. They are great pumps but would be pretty overkill if you ask me.
 
I've been thinking about putting together another intercooler, only this time with an ice box in the trunk and a heat exchanger in the front. with all the extra length of hose, I would like to have a better pump.
 


would the end tanks have to be tig welded or could they be silver soldered? that thought did occur to me but I have no practical experience in this type of thing.

Keep in mind that the zzp plates do not allow you to do this. You need the W Body store intercooler plates that are solid aluminum to machine the passages for the outlet tubes towards the tb.
The zzp plates have large open internal areas for their PCV Passage
 
Minus our core problems, the math does show that a nice gain could happen from a decent pump. I doubt you'd see much of a difference on the dyno though.
 


there would probably be a big difference with an ice tank and a single pass intercooler core with larger intercooler lines and a good pump.
