Intake leak? weird noise at start up

I went ahead and changed my lower intake gaskets. When I take the oil cap off the engine will stumble and die, also when I pull out the dipstick it will stumble a bit and you can feel it sucking air in... Iv noticed when I manipulate the oil cap the noise will coincide with it. I took off serp belt and the noise was still there I initially thought it could be the power steering pump.

I changed upper gasket and pcv valve as well I also changed the larger o ring that sat at the top of the pcv housing.

I have found a thread on here saying possibly pcv..so before I go messing with it..How simple as it may seem I want to make sure what I have to do

This may sound stupid but as far as that little pipe or plastic hose that's attached to the upper intake gasket...

When I took off the upper plenum the plastic pipe with the curve at the end was just sitting there in its brackets, it was totally the opposite of how the new one came in its package..so I lined up the curve end with the pcv port.... Not sure if that was correct...

Do I need another pcv or maybe change that spring..I'm hoping its that simple.

if you feel it sucking in, then the pvc should be clogged. or not in right if you took it out. theres a O ring it seats in.

I had to go back out to the garage..to check pcv.. .. ..There should be two o rings I only had the larger one I just wrapped the pcv with electrical tape for a snug fit and problem solved.. Ill try to find one at auto parts store tomm.

Thanks

I have found that orings for A/C parts fit the PCV valve perfect, at work we have a whole bin of them. Broke one doing a supercharger swap.

See if the parts store has a tray of A/C orings or just regular orings.

Did you have any bolts left over? This kinda reminds me of the guy that found one of his bolts missing from under the UIM. Due to a bolt from the intake to crankcase missing, he had a ton of vacuum that made an odd noise and I think allowing more air would stall it out.

Nope, no bolts were left over, It was the pcv valve, it was not snug, It must of had an o ring when I removed it but it was pretty dirty so I probably over looked it. I went and got an o ring for it today, previously had electrical tape around the pcv to make it snug, while I drove to the store. It's been fine since then, I was so nervous when I first started it up......

Yeah it's easy to make little random mistakes. When I out on my roller rockers I had everything set but forgot to hook up the vac line to the booster. Poor thing. Had a loping idle like she had a fat cam installed though and actually ran until I heard the loud sucking noise and I was like haha oops...

Exactly, I'm glad it was something simple.
