Installing new fuel pump

To make a long story short, I bought a high flow fuel pump a year or two ago and am now finally able to get to work on the thing. Installing the fuel pump is the last thing that I need to do and then I will be able to drive my Monte again. I ran into a roadblock though. Here's a couple pics of the problem:

Also, in this pic ^ is that clamp on the brown line pressed on?

I can't seem to get the brown and black lines off of the fuel pump inside the canister. I don't want to break anything, but I need to disconnect everything so that I can install the actual pump into my fuel pump canister. I did some searching and I saw that someone recommended cutting the brown line and buying this line: http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/130493783608 to replace it.

What have you guys done to get both lines off?

Those plastic lines are pretty much welded on there by now. Surprised you haven't broken them already! The brown bendy straw line would negate your high flow pump anyway. Just replace both and get that Monte back on the road.

I would recommend some Transmission cooling line grade hose, that will handle over 200PSI. Way more than the pump can produce. Not sure about the connection to the top cap though. I just replaced the entire unit when my pump went last year, with a 5.3L unit from a wrecked 2008 GXP.

When I did my pump install I had to cut the original corrugated line off. I replaced it with EFI rubber hose.

Your local parts store should have fuel hose rated for EFI pressure. Also should have special hose clamps too. More of a band clamp vs. the traditional worm gear type hose clamp. Whether or not you feel the need for them is up to you.

Thank you for the help guys. Does the little black line next to it have something to do with the venturi pump? I can't get that line off either.

Oh, you got a venturi can. Yes. That line feeds the venturi jet. Is there enough tube to cut it flush off the old pump and still have enough to push on to the new one?

Yeah, all 98-99 Monte Z34's have the venturi canister even though they're L36s. I might be able to cut the line and see if it stretches. Is that what you guys typically do?

Okay, I got it all together and am just about to install the rewire kit. Got another question though. What is this sensor on the canistor:

The reason I ask is because my rewire doesn't have anything to plug into that.

Just leave it in but leave it unplugged. You can tune the code out if you it trips an ses light but it is just for emissions/evap.

Okay, that's what I was hoping to hear. The rewire kit that I have doesn't have the correct plug for the sensor. I'll just leave it unplugged then and when I get it dyno-tuned I'll have it removed.
