Impala Brakes is it true

Ok I know about f-body swaps but someone told me impalas have a dual piston front brake and if I get it with the bracket and a set of rotors they are a direct swap.. Antone know if this is true, and what years and models are swappable, also does anyone know if a 2001 chevy venture van and a 1997 grand prix use the same brake set up so if it does I can use this on that as well?

Thanks everyone

Its true. I think its like a 06 up that has the dual calipers. Cant really remember. And yes, they will bolt onto the mini van as it uses the same spindle. However you need to make sure the tires on the minivan will clear the bigger brakes if you go that route. Not sure what size are on the mini van.

Ok I was going to put the Pontiac Rims on it it sooner or later so, sooner it is. and how sure are we its 2006 and up for calipers

It's 06+. I have them on my 00 GPGT right now with stock 16" wheels. You may have to bend the bracket that holds the brake line to the frame to be sure the hose didn't get in a bind when turning lock to lock. I did on my GP. They are dual piston and steel, unlike the F-bodies which are aluminum. All the bolts/hardware from the Imp bolted right on without any adapters. I have a post somewhere on here that shows how they fit and what I did. A quick search should turn up more info as well.

Don't forget the banjo bolt if I the calipers don't come with one. You can buy a bit of extra brake line and make a short section that turns 180 degrees at the bracket to give your brake line some extra room.

No, they are too thick. After getting them turned a few times you might be able to get them to fit, but you would have to trim hardware on the brackets too.

From what I've read, the 00-05 Impala (single piston 12 inch brake upgrade) and the F-Body rotors are the same, but the 06+ Impala rotors are different.

iirc they are all a bit different, big bad brake thread had it all laid out.

to be safe, just use what your supposed to use with each caliper.

^^I agree, but when wandering junkyards, it's nice to know what you can use from one vehicle to another. Oreilly's lists the same part number for a front rotor on a 2003 Impala and 2000 Camaro. 56641RGS, that said, they might be slightly different, but apparently they are interchangeable.
