I'm Stumped-Needing Advice

Got a '97 GP with 185,000 miles. Has a rough idle and sputters/shakes while accelerating-causing the car to vibrate. I just changed the spark plugs and wires and nothing has changed. It is very consistent-has a steady beat. I went to change the fuel filter, but after I tried as hard as I could pull-I feared ruining the line and quit. So the fuel filter didnt get replaced-I dont think that is whats wrong anyway. The motor also is pulling air through the oil cap. When I pull the oil cap off, it takes a deep breath through the oil fill cap and the engine almost dies then takes back off again. I am stumped and any help would be great.

Where is the pvc valve located? I will get a new one and try that, but I would like to visually find it and look at it to see if there is anything visually wrong with it. Also I like to take the old one with me to the parts store to make sure I get the right one. Is there any tricks to installing the PVC valve?

Put in a new pcv valve and got a new mass flow sensor-neither changed anything. Anyone have any other ideas-im thinking cat convertor. Not much preasure coming from tail pipes.
