so continuing the horror that is my life... i get my car back again after about 2 months and it runs good and im just trying to get home breaking in the engine and the rpms start jumping after about 40 minutes of driving and it ****ing dies and made a backfire type noise... i didnt even go above 3000 rpms and i tried starting it back up and it wasnt wanting to start than it did and it was ok but i guarantee it will happen again im at a point where im just gonna take this cam out and increase my debt any ideas ????

well my random missfire code has been deleted but there was a code but when it showed up i just was so frustrated that i just got it home and *****ed and moaned for a while so possibly tomorrow ill see what the code is but t just doesnt make sense that it would just randomly start to missfire and die on me after 40 minutes and i noticed that there might be gas leaking out i noticed a good almost puddle like of it on top of the valve covers

ok so i found out the puddle on the valve covers was cleaner that hasnt evaporated yet and i got the code it was 2 codes for my cam shaft positioning sensor how abouts do i go about that?

It may be disconnected. It's on the front timing chain cover. It not the one by the ballancer. That's the crank shaft posstioning sensor.

You may also have to do a case learn for the new cam. I did not. But you may. The cam has nothing to do with why your car is running like that. Except maybe because of the case learn.

well its only done that once where it stalled out but if it wasnt connected would my car still run? then it threw that code on the next start up so... idk ill check the wire and if it is a case learn what would i have to do cause my pcm is tuned for this cam but i have a feeling what started this was my trans tables being to rough when it shifts and thats what caused me to spin bearings

so it happened again im so ****ing done with it im just tempted to pay more money just to put the stock cam back in

you spun bearings because you installed a motor that was effed up from the get go. the trans settings had nothing to do with it. im guessing you are running a "ZZP Tuned" pcm??? yeah garbage. my m90kit pcm was commanding 11 volts because of their great pcms. stock cam isnt going to do anything but cost you more. i know you are frustrated but throwing more money at it is not going to fix the problem, the vs cam is so tame that you most likely do not need a custom pcm to have it running anyways. ok now, you are in detroit, im sure ZZP is not far from you so tuning shouldnt be a problem. do you still have the stock pcm? start with the simplest things and work from there. youre sayin g its throwing codes, you need to see what codes it is. calm down, relax, its a gm 3.8 v6, you will prevail my friend!!!!!!!!!

ok now i read it, what 2 codes did u have? messed up cam position sensor will make the car die. think about it the pcm doesnt know where the cam is....i wish you were closer id have that thing running like a champ

PO341 Camshaft position sensor is what i believe it was
but i had a custom tune done by someone in the grand prix group im in nothing extreme when i scanned my other engine before the second rebuild with him tuning i had 0 kr and everything was good so i have no idea and no i dont have a stock pcm but i bought a hptuner off of tdc but im still waiting on it to arrive so i mean i dont know where to start when it comes to the cam position sensor this is a new part for me

sounds like the cam sensor is no good. common problem on the old GN 3.8's i dunno if it carries over to the series 2 motors?? get a replacement sensor and swap it out.

wouldnt you have to take the motor out to be able to replace it?
and do you think it would fix these backfires that happen right before my car shuts off randomly

I still say find someone else to tune your car. L67's start with a good tune and need to be ended with one. Bar none.

well tuning isnt gonna fix the whatevers wrong with the sensor a second tune would come second after fixing the positioning sensor now is it something i can do with the engine still in the car cause i know the pulley right there is fairly close to the frame

Does any know why my car might be dieing? It sounds like the starter is grinding or sounds like it when it starts and sounds like something is still grinding when its running. Weird thing is I turn off the car and it goes away, might be able to drive 10 miles before it stalls, and grinds when starting and running again. Its hard to start also. My trac off light would come on and my rpm's would go to 0, but would still be running. I did replace the Crankshaft position sensor and the MAP/ Pressure Sensor. That I think fixed the rpms and the trac light, I think lol :(. It had 3 codes to begin with they were for the 2 sensors that I replaced and the Mass Air Flow Sensor. But before I change the sensors I cleared the codes and ran it for a while and it only read the 2 codes I replaced and changing them didn't fix the problem, of the grinding, stalls and hard starts. Seriously this is aggravating! :(

This is why i am so ready to give up so i got the car towed back today and this is what i found on BOTH mufflers im so done with this car like i am afraid to even touch it its only backfired twice the two and only times i have driven it and both times without going above 2500 rpms

Wow, that's either a severe backfire or someone was screwing with your car.

How in the world would you get that much unburnt fuel in your exhaust? Your timing has to be really screwed up or something.

My old buick somerset looked similar to that
Car would bog dwn oon the freeway at around 70 and it would die out if i put my foot in it Thats what the end result was killed 2 cats and a comlete exhaust system that way
For me it was o2 sensors along with a few other problems
