i have a 2000 pontiac grand prix and when im driving and turn the wheel i hear like a clicking sound and can feel it when i keep my hand on the shifter. so i started to turn my wheels left and right constantly and i feel and hear the clicking so much.. when i jack my car up my front wheels are kinda loose when you shake them forward and back. and when i make right turns my wheel makes alot of squeaking. i dont know if it could be one of the control arms or something along that line.. if anyone has any ideas i would love to get some help, thanks.

hub assembly, these cars use a sealed roller bearing and the only way to change it is to buy a complete hub assembly.

now do you only have play when you "shake" the wheels side to side or does it do it up and down as well? does it only make the noise when turning? is it just when you start to turn or is the noise throughout the turn? is it make it turning both ways? is there a loud humm or drone at higher speed?

when the car is jacked the wheels are only loose left and right.. and the wheels only squeak when i make right turns and its throughout the whole turn, and sometimes it doesnt squeak when im pushing down on the break through the turn

i agree on the new wheel bearing/hub assembly idea, got any vibration in your steering wheel at highway speeds?

yaeh i get vibrations sometimes when im driving on the highway.. and the squeaking sound seems like its coming from the front right wheel

wheel bearing sounds like.. if it makes a vibration and a loud noise on highway prob ur wheel bearing, or if its a noise when ya turn could be a tie rod end...

i feel like it could be so many different things.. i think im just going to buy the hubs and put them in and hopefully that fixes the problem.

even if it doesnt fix the problem its something that will go bad in the future so you wont have to worry about it then

yeah very good point.. hey how do you get that picture next to your name.. on mine it says No Avitar. whatever that means

when i got my new tires i asked the guy if he knew what was loose and he didnt really know, he said its a hub or your lower control arm

yeah he didnt really look to hard.. maybe if i gave him some money he would of tried to look a little harder lol

I had same problem. when jacked if the wheel moves side to side it is tie rods and control arms. up and down is Hub. I replaced all. Make sure if you have ABS you get the hub with ABS pigtail wire. I recommend replacing rods and control arms and hubs and get realignment done. I have also replaced Strut assemblies(struts and springs took 2hrs) 2000 GTP 150,000 miles.
