Alright guys, been having a weird problem with my 02 GTP. Basically when I try to start it after its been sitting overnight or for a couple hours I can turn the key two clicks forward, hear the fuel pump run, and then as soon as I try to start the ignition, everything cuts off, and I mean everything. I try to restart it and it wont, I wiggled the positive and negative terminals and that sometimes restarts it and I get power back, but then the second time I started it the motor ran for about a second then died. I waited about 2 minutes and tried again and it ran. I have no problem with the car while it is running.
The positive and negative terminals look fine and have no acid build up or too much rust, the cables are also nice and tight and properly secured. My battery is about 6 months old, granted it was a battery for a Malibu. Apart from just losing power entirely, could a bad throttle position sensor help with a hard time starting up?

Thanks for your time.

Well, tested my battery and starter and both came back bad, replaced the battery first, cleaned and sealed the terminals and havent had that problem yet. Thinking that fixed it. I'll still be changing the starter out since Id rather have it not crap out on me mid winter. Thanks for the help guys.

How did they test the starter? Thought those are either go or no go.

Many moons ago I used to work at a shop that repaired starters and alternators. Put starter in vice, put power to it, simulate a load on the bendix by leveraging a piece of 2x4 against it and check the draw. Nothing like the smell of testing starters in the morning. LOL
