Jumped in my car today to drive my kids to school car started up fine loaded my sun in his car seat and hoped in the drive side back out the car to the road and put it in Drive car almost stalled out then chirped the tires and lvl'd out thought this was relly off i made it about another 100m er so and the car just went dead ? i checked the fuel pump and sending unit there all working fine so i had to have the car towed to my dealership there saying its the ICM and they ordered a used one for $110 CAN. the cars a 2008 Grand Prix Base. and ive only had the car 60 days as of today there makeing me pay for the part and the dam tow apprently its not covered under my bumper to bumper 100,000 warranty or my Drive train warranty so should they cover it under the 60 day lemon law

and how long would it take to install this ICM unit ?
so if i have to pay for it im not getting soaked for Labor

hit me back please lads

Thanks Scotty but im no good wit a wrench just have a decent knowledge of whats under the hood.. so it should not cost me much to have it replaced then if its only 20 min

im sure they will nail you for a full hour.

its under the coils, take the coils off then the icm, and the unbolt the plug at the front. its easy.

I have an 08 GP base model. I'm on my third ICM in 4.5 years. The first 2 were Duralast from AZ (lasted 39 months & 18 months). And now I'm running a BWD from AdvA. My plugs and wires are a year old, replaced with ACdelco iridium plugs and ACdelco wires. 6/3 coil was stock, 2/5 coil is Duralast, 4/1 coil was stock. The 2nd Duralast ICM stopped firing the 4/1 coil, so as a precaution I replaced the 4/1 coil with a BWD coil, since this is where the 1st Duralast ICM failed too.

Does anyone have a clue to why these ICM's would be crapping out on a somewhat regular basis? Is it just poor quality chinese parts or should I be looking for something else?
