If its not the alternator, what is it?

i have an 02 gp 3.1.. my cars been acting wierd, the dashboard lights / radio will shut off and come back on like i lost a quick connection.. the battery light comes on and goes off as it pleases, we checked the battery while it was running and it said it was getting no charge so i replaced the alternator and it still says no charge.. what else could it be? and where should i check for shorts?
 


I'm with slow on the bad ground.... check to make sure the ground wire is connecting to the neg post on the battery... i've have a problem with the rubber boot on the neg sidepost....when u tighten the sidepost bolt it wont tighten the ground flange to the battery like it should... i just used a washer to fill the gap and conduct properly
 
check the fuse in the motor bay its called alt. sense, then check the wire from the starter to the alt. :th_winking:

also check the ground on the chassis too, it should be tight and clear of any rust/debris
 
Thanks guys it turned out to be the battery was shot.. i didn't think a bad battery would mess everything up like it did..
