OK I dont know any other way to explain it. when I park my car I have a realy hot smell coming from my 97 GTP. The car isnt overheating But I have never had a car that seemed to get a hot smell from the motor. :confused:
 


Not only that - when you park your car (and turn it off) you get heat soak. The case iron block has a huge heat capacity.

Heat is added to the block via the combustion chamber and removed via the coolant (and eventually out to ambient via the radiator). When you park and the water pump is no longer spinning, the motor temperature will rise quite a bit. This is why theere is a warning sticker about the fan spontaneously turning on when the car is off (to counteract this effect).

Also - if you've recently cleaned your engine or had it cleaned, you might be smelling the fumes of the cleaning chemicals burning off.
