Idea - put a 5.3V8 in my 00 GT

I've thought about this a lot lately. Is it possible to put the 5.3 LS4 in a 00 Grand Prix GT? If so, what would it take?

Yes it is... Is it worth it? HELL NO!

For the cost, you could either top swap or stick an L67/L32 in and be loads faster than the LS4

My opinion, worst idea from GM. Transverse mounted LSx FTMFL

^^^that is the reason for hood and fender vents. Some ram air hoods are just for cooling the engine as well.

I vote yes simply because its not like everyone else!! Get a TEP trans and do this swap with 3.29 gears and call it a day. :th_thumbsup-wink:

don't waste time with an ls4 though. cram in an ls1 like in the picture in post #2. it would be a bit faster, and would sound better. still for the cost you could make a 3800 much faster, but it wouldn't sound as good though.

You think torque steer is bad now? Hah...V8 in a FWD car...how dumb.
What does torque steer have to do with stickin a V8 in a FWD car? I know you have a modded 3800 to the hills but torque steer should be able to get under control with suspension stuff reguardless of what engines in it. Not trying to bash at all but Im sure your engine makes more HP than a LS4 so I dont really get what your going after here.

I know that dark blue coupe is the one that the Fast Fieros guy did a while ago and thought he used a LS4 for that not sure. Also one Ls1tech.com guys are using aftermarket heads cams and intakes for the LS4 so I dont get the whole LS4 vs. LS1 yes I understand their different and the LS1 is far more popular. But all things considered wouldnt it be easier to use a LS4 short block and not have to worry about the oil pan and clearance issuse then use the aftermarket heads intake and cams like the LS4 guys have already dont on ls1tech.com My personally Id love to have a Lacross Super with a TEP trans and cartuning turbo kit. Realistic maybe not, cost effective over a modded 3800 doubt it, Just becasue its different and Ive never seen one done is why I like the idea. I have seen turbo GXPs and a Turbo monte SS tho. Both make damn near 500 whp.

well i guess my question to 02GrandPrixIraqVet is this, do they have the ls4 sounding as good as the ls1? the only reason why a swap like this would make sense would be for sound in the first place, so which ever is cheapest to put in and sound the best would get my vote.
