IAT sensor location turbo?

UR LOSN

New member
ok, since my truck is down for winter, I have focused on my GTP. I have an LT1(metal) MAF, and I will require the use of an IAT sensor(Reptile's).

I have been thinking of locations locations for it. where does everyone have theirs? before the turbine or after the IC?

I will be running excessive boost.(22+).... so it will have a tendancy to blow out, or be sucked it.:th_wtf:

what do you guys recommend? I

You want to measure air as it enters the throttle body, or pretty close to it.

22PSI is pounds per square inch. The sensor is far from a square inch, and I don't know about yours but mine takes quite a bit of force to remove from its grommet.

thats just it though..... I dont have a grommet..... I havent placed it anywhere yet. I am looking for a super tight fit...with little chance of being sucked in or blown out.

within 22" of the TB..... ok. just need to make a hole....and pick out a tight fitting grommet.

Find the grommet first, then measure the inner diameter of it, and make your hole just larger. Should be perfect.

Jacob you should not even be thinking about a IAT sensor with your build.
Hook it up to a happy knob or an ICCU.
Run a real Air temp sensor with a NPT end and thread it into the IC piping or UIM.
A dual temp gauge for before and after IC temps would be ideal.
Your going to have to scale the MAF down at somepoint most likely with an AFC so could just get the ICCU and that would take care of the IAT. Or you could run the Lq4 sensor with the built in IAT. The LT1 Style maf is only going to give a little headroom over the lq4 so i wouldnt throw out the idea of using it.

The truth.

This man speaks it.

I let my IAT get melted to my togs, and then deleted all the codes for it. No issues.

Well, I was over at my friends house last night with his turbo neon(actually really cool).

He has a MegaSquirt ECU setup....and had a screw in GM IAT sensor.

GM Intake Air Temp Sensor, w/ Connector

I will be using this on my car.... just need to weld in the NPT bung. rock solid setup if you ask me, that way I am able to run my LT1 MAF.

My IAT fell into my throttle and stuck it wide open... was sweet.

Delete it and run a resistor to like 30C, so you can run open loop without crazy trims.
