Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

I think I broke it. Weird noise when in drive and not moving.

Back story. 30k old GM re-manned Non hd 4t65e with the spacer mod (shift improver) in the accumulator that just week ago got a nice hd diffy upgrade. Did a small warmup burnout tonight and suddenly a noise started.

Car runs and drives perfectly. No slip. No codes. Fluid is a half and half mix of 20k old fluid / filter and new fluid. Trans temp is within 10* of engine coolant temp. Drove 10 miles home with no issues. I can get on it and its 100% normal.

Car now makes a whining noise like a bad power steering pump only when it is in drive or reverse and not moving. Neutral and park are silent. As soon as your going 5mph its gone until you come to a stop again. The noise is definitely rpm tied and not speed tied.

Any ideas guys? From what I know about our cars and transmissions it could be the hydrolic pump, the pump shaft, or the torque converter because those are the only things that move when in gear and not driving. I checked the fluid level which was a quart low so I added fluid but it still does it. Also did a little reading and it could be that my old diff could have left metal in the filter and clogged it but I feel like that would effect my temps and ability to drive.

Any help appreciated.

id drop the pan change the filter again. tranny pump whine is almost always the pump not getting fluid, either its low, or the filter clogged up.

Tough to say..

Torque converter material will plug the two little filters in the spacer plate from what I've heard/read. Which would mean no fluid movement and no engagement etc of drive/rev.

A plugged filter in the pan ..say from ripping a diff up or parts of the housing gathering there will clog it to a degree and start starving the pump which whines when starved

Sounds good. Ill post back once I get the pan drop and whatnot done. Moneyz are a tad tight but wally world carry's affordable dexron VI now so I may do that.

EDIT: Also im offended that you would suggest that my car would have a tore up diffy.... I was only running high 12s times on a non hd diffy! Totally fine. Seriously though I was amazed that the pin wasnt shredding the cover when I took it apart.

If money's tight..catch the fluid. Knowing most GP guys..it's fresh enough since you probably keep breaking stuff...lol

Diffy's happen.. the world is in a perfect place

Did the pan drop. Minor amount of metal on the magnet. Looks suspiciously like bits of the non hd diffy that I chewed up. Nothing really scary in the pan. Changed filter and filter gasket. Reused the nice stock metal pan gasket. Refilled with 8 or 9 quarts of wally world dexron 6. Guess what? Same noise. Only when not moving. Only in gear. I went out and drove the **** out of it. Trans locks in at 190* and drives exactly like you would expect a healthy 2.55" pulleyed genV blown high compression 3800 to drive. My guess is a unhappy torque converter at this point. I peeked at the new diffy while I was in there and it still looks happy as a clam. Found out the bull**** remanned zzp axle is leaking but thats another story.
