unbelievable!!!! i just went to state inspection, in new jersey, and passed! with a shattered driver side mirror and a air bag light lit up and questionable tires.

i only went to fail lol that would have given me 30 days to fix those 2 item in the next 30 days, but it passed.

they hardly checked a thing, no emissions, horn, directional's or brake light check or hi beams, i saw my wipers go up and off, and gas cap being tested, thats it.

then the guy calls me over to my car at the end of the line and had a passing sticker in his hand im like wut?! then he asks me when i bought this car, i told him august of last year, and he proceeds to tell me i have a fake inspection sticker on my car, and its a 500 dollar ticket if i was caught by a cop, and showed me the difference between the two. i told him the cars last owner was from Newark and he says that makes sense lol

yeah, the emissions tests are jokes, I gave my old ford probe gt to my girlfriend. The engine light is on most of the time but it runs fine, I have a mechanic friend who has a programmer to turn the light off, drive to place, its passes, later on the light comes back on, lol.

Heck my GP flunked MO state inspection for a broken drivers mirror. WTF?? It was all in the housing just cracked everywhere. Sounds like you dodged a bullet!

As I understand it, Jersey tends to be pretty strict.

ding ding ding we have a winner!

but not any more!

New Jersey for ever has really been a tough state to pass with a older car, they would fail you for a stained rear view mirror, small stuff, emissions was all ways tough to pass, they used to check everything on the car, front end, lights run it on some kind of rollers and test the emissions. times they are a changing.

back in the 80's i failed for emissions with my 70 firebird, so when you fail you could come back to the exit of the inspection and get retested, so i pulled off to the side, popped my hood and gave the mixture screws a turn in each, backed up to the door and passed lol, the good old days of a carb.........

Yeah Jersey used to be real strict, I took an Expedition through inspection after clearing the codes to turn the check engine light off (I was waiting on a part, but needed to get it inspected). They failed it and said it needed to have at least 100 miles on it. I probably had 50 miles on it.

I'm glad we don't have insepction here. Lol...how did you pass.

there's been a few newspaper articles about jersey dropping inspection all together, so i guess they are just slacking off now, and just don't care, hopefully they do away with it.

there wasn't even a line when i went i was 3 rd in line.

I heard Jersey recently cracked down on inspections, my Cutlass failed several years ago back in Jersey for having a hole in the bumper lol. I soooo envy those states that don't have inspections you guys are lucky.

Congrats on passing wooot!

Love Florida. No emissions testing at all. They just make sure the VIN on the car matches on the one on the title. End.

CT is a quickie state. OBD2 plug in, a quick visual under the hood if they are a strict shop and I think a quick light test.

My car will never fail that obd2 test. :th_winking:
