• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

I need some help with my 1999 Grand Prix GTP!

About a month ago I was driving and the idler puller fell off, which caused the belt to fall off. I then replaced the idler pulley and reattached the belt. A week later the service engine light came on and was giving a PO101 code (faulty MAF) and a PO171 (bank 1 - system too lean) and the car was idling very high, had lack of power, and would stall every now and then. I found out the MAF did need to be replaced and some of the vacuum lines as well. I thought by fixing those things the car would be fine, but now when the car is idling or I'm stopped, the RPMs will move up and down by themselves and sometimes it stalls. There is currently no error codes and the car does seem to run better when it's not too warm out. I'm hoping someone may have some advice because I have absolutely no idea what could be wrong!

hmm. Kinda sounds like one of the other sensor on the throttle body may be having a issue.

Those would be the IAC (idle air control valve) and TPS (throttle position sensor).

You can take the IAC out and try cleaning it, or see how bad its gummed up with crap.

check all the vac lines ...spray with brake clean and if the idle rises then u found the area of ur leak, my gtp displayed the same symptoms when the T fitting on the lim went bad (it dry rotted).

I can tell when it's about to stall. For example, if I sit at a red light for too long the RPM's will go up, the car will jerk forward a bit, and then just die.

^^ What area of MA are you located in? Like Silva said, there are a few of us around the state that could help you look at it.
