I have a dumb tranny question regarding the pan....

I've seen somewhere online (other than ZZP, but probably the same damn thing) sell an aluminum finned tranny pan with a sensor hole and drain cock. Whats the benefit in getting this other than the obvious I just listed?

I've heard on other trannies with similiar pans installed it can actully benefit the tranny with cooler fluid. I know a cooler would be better, but is this true?

Just wondering if one of these pans are actully worth the money. The draincock would be nice, then again its not hard to loosen the pan and let the fluid drain slowly either.

Thanks!

Its a drop in the bucket but is a nice pan. I have had a few customers send transmissions to get rebuilt and have this pan installed and it is a nice piece. Outside of crusing down the highway I dont see how the fins are really doing much at all other than something to bang your head on under the car lol. A better answer would be to have a deeper pan to hold more fluid, this pan just looks fancy but you are right that the drain is a great addition as well as being able to install a temp sensor. You wont see me rushing out to buy one, a better external cooler will do worlds more than a pan with fins and sitting still in the staging lanes it is going to do nothing for you after it heat soaks and has no air moving across it.
