So i have a 2001 grand prix gt with a new tranny that has rouphly 1500 miles on it but the car has 70142 miles on it i always do burnouts around corners well today i had some people with me and brian knocked it down into 2nd gear at 70 mile an hour but like i put it back in drive. Well soon after i was taking them home and we came to a corner that had like sand particles on it so i floored it and they broke loose then all of a sudden. The tires gripped and shot me the way the tires were turned but it didnt want to move forward at all. so i let off gas and rolled forward and then pressed on gas it was fine. I stopped about 2 blocks away from there house and tried it again it did the same thing. so i dropped them off went about 2 miles out of town on a dirt road. i pulled the e-brake and spun the tires i noticed at 4000 rpm's it would shift and then bog down like i was trying to pull a friggin tractor. i did it like 4 more times just to make sure it was 4000 and then turned around and went back towards my house this time i stopped on the highway and floored it it shifted at 4000 and i kept the gas down at like 10mph it was shaking and didnt want to move i got it up to 40 mph and let off it was terrible. At 40 mph it was at 4000 rpm's. but acted as if i was pulling a tractor. I have no clue whats wrong it drives fine when i floor it and drive it shifts at 5900 rpm's so it has to do something with the spinning of tires or jumping rpm's too quick or something. cause on the dirtroad i could go about 34 mph and floor it and they would spin but it would continue up into second gear so its only at 4000 rpm's. it's very annoying most of my fun is now gone im going to go try it again and will come back and post maybe its like a bad luck deal idk.

ok, let me get thsi straight.

you were doing burnouts around a turn...and it got traction?

now the car is only shifting at 4K and bogs...slowing the motor down....

to me it sounds like your traction control is kicking in...as it should.

except the traction control is disabled because the abs sensor went out on one tire now it stays permanently off and yes it got traction because it upshifted WAYYYY to early at 4000 instead of 5900-6000 it's front wheel drive but i just went out again like i said i would and it isn't doing it anymore its fine now. But i cant help but wonder why the hell it did it to begin with. It kind of scares me like badly. any suggestions or thoughts would be appreciated.

to me it sounds like the Traction control kicked in. (prob saved some vital parts from exploding) I know the 2000 does it every now and then even with the TCS turned off.

exlpoding anything is always fun!!!!!

If you know it's hurting you car why would you want to keep doing this. Sounds like you need total failure so you can learn a lesson on how to treat your ride.

thats what it took for me in my old GT.I now baby my GTP.After his diff explodes maybe that will open some eyes.

:th_shakinghead1: whyyyyyyyyyyyyyy keep doin burnouts.yea theyre fun to once in a while, but damn bro u gonna be replacing trans and parts for trans everytime u turn around...save some cash and get trannyman to build u a trans that can stand the abuse moreso than stock. You'll come out cheaper that way.

I have an '02 GT and mine did the same thing. I changed my fluid and filter with a GM filter and Synthetic Tranny Fluid and it went away, although I do not constantly do burnouts.....:)

I think the best thing you could do with your GP is sell it. If you are going to ruin a car do it with something else.

wow, what the hell is wrong with you? What do you honestly expect if your peeling the tires all the time. Its just going to bite you in the ass later.

Anyone up for a ban party???

Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeease??!?!

Honestly kid...give your damn car a break.

BTW I need your home phone number so I can call and talk to Mommy and Daddy about not buying you another transmission and let you buy a $2,000+ part on a McDonald's salary and see how long it takes. You'll be pretty nice to it after about 5 months of walking to work. Lesson here is to learn the value of a friggen' dollar.:th_shakinghead2:

But exploded differentials are so much fun!! :th_thumbsup-wink:

ROFLMAO

they sure are,...

but a i agree mostly it sounds completely like the regular traction control system is locking up both drive wheels and backing off the RPM's for you in order to gain some traction. You said your abs sensor went out so the traction system *should* be disabled...but who knows. Can you use your 'trac off' button or is trac off light already lit up?
