• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

The one problem with car (that the owner told about that it was overheating and needed a new battery) So I went over to the auto parts store and brought a new battery and Dex cool. As soon I put in the Dex cool, the fluid leak out. I lifted up the car and check under it and saw two freeze plugs up inside that had fall out of the block and as well this is where the Dex cool was dripping out. This anyone know? What are the procedures to fixing this problem correctly ? To replacing the freeze plugs. The car is 1998 Grand Prix GTP SC. Thank you for your time and comments DAVE MC:o

Pretty sure...depending on the freeze plug...you can do the front ones...but the rear are next to impossible to get to without yanking out the motor.

clean the hole in the block,(sand off any rust or grease) they have a tool thats the size of the plug with an extension so you can pound it in with a hammer, or if you have a socket the size of the plug and a extension you can use that too.

ive seen loc tight or maybe some other freeze out plug sealant as well, that you would smear on the new plug and then install it. never used it myself tho, cant hurt though.

mine is doing the same thing?i changed oil and etc. today went to put some water in the radiator and wow!~my driveway wound up flooded...but after i finally noticed it.it seems to be coming from directly behind the front manifold.
if it was run hot because of this would it cause the car to start knocking?

Probably wouldn't cause knocking, but coolant mixing w/ the oil would. Clean your engine off really good and locate the leak 100%. I don't think freeze plugs are that common. The LIM, upper hose and T-stat neck could also leak there at the front causing a mess. Best to start w/ a clean area.
