ok so heres the deal. car worked fine yesterday i went to go get beer and a check engine light came on. big surprise right? anyway i went to autozone and it was p0141 which is bank 1 sensor 2 heated 02. its brand new so autozone cleared the code. i went to gas station got my beer came out and car wouldnt start. so i poped hood and the terminals were lose. i tightend them up and headed home. on the way home my digital mpg reset and is acting weird. it got back up to its normal 22-23 mpg range. but if i stop at a light and let off the break it drops .1-.4 mpg. when light turns green i start driving like a 90 year old handicapped lady and it drops 1-2mpg. then goes back up to its normal till i stop again. why is it changing so much so rapidly? it did not do this before the terminals came loose at the gas station. oh and now everytime i turn my car on my performance shift button is engaged and my ac is on. where before this never happended either. if anyone has any ideas please help!. oh and iv already checked all the fuses and everything is good.

I believe your avg mpg got reset at some point, it will fluctuate a lot until you get about 20 miles on it. Also, it sounds like your O2 sensor might need replacing, it working properly is key to getting good mpg.

yea if your mpg resets it will flucuate a bit at stop signs and lights and so on cause the car isnt rolling so its losing mpg and taking off is hard on mpgs to when you are coasting you get the best mpgs

^^x3. As far as your Perf shift light goes, if you turn it on, it will stay on even after restarting the car. Sometimes days, but it will eventually default and go back to regular mode, probably for durability reasons.

well i didnt even turn the shift button on and it turned on by itself. and as far as the mpg goes. even if the car is in park and i barely rev it, it just dropped from 22 to 18. and all i did was rev it to 1.5 for a quick second to see if my pulley squeal was gone. so hopefully my mpg gauge goes back to like it was. it never fluctuated before. would always stay in the 22's-23's even on highway. and the 02 is not even 2 weeks old. so i dunno. cleared that code last night im waiting to see if it comes on again before i mess with it more.

Had you ever reset the mpg indicator?

If the dic mpg is reset it takes a few miles to balance that out its normal as for it reseting that probably has to do with the batt being loose

Not sure about the perf button
but the car will get slightly worse mpg due to the batt being loose it has to relearn a few things with fueling and such
