Humming Noise?

This is one of the weirdest problems I had yet with this car. There is an audible humming noise coming from the rear of the car. I've not clue what it is. Its only audible when the car is not moving (parked, stop light, etc.). Only weird thing I notice that happened was the car started off rough, kind of like the rpm bouncing a little bit and was going to stall, but it did not. After that it started up normal, yet now there is a sound. Any clue what it could possibly be? Car seems to be driving like usual.

Fuel pump? Cycle key from "off" to "on" (not "start") a few times. Fuel pump primes for like 2-3 seconds at each "on". No radio, fan, etc & doors closed to minimize chimes. Maybe open trunk, too...

I have a 02 GP GTP. I'll try changing the fuel filter. That area looked a bit rusted last time I checked. Thanks for the replys.

Could be your exhaust vibrations combined with a worn out exhaust hanger. Long shot, but your options are pretty limited in the rear of the car.

It likely is rusty. What you want to do in order to NOT twist off the steel line is to hold the line nut still and turn the filter itself. I'd soak it real good with PB Blaster or another good penetrating fluid before you attempt anything.

Noise disappeared oddly enough. Still going to change the fuel filter though. Yep that fuel filter is rusted to hell.
