• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

So I have a 2003 Grand Prix Limited Edition 96k miles. The thing is sometimes it will start just fine, sometimes it wont start just cranks... If you spray starter fluid into the intake it will start, will idle forever if you let it sit and run. If you drive it, it will shut down once it's 1 line over quarter on temp gauge. The fun part, I have changed: Alternator, Crank position sensor, Cam position sensor, Intake air temp sensor, Throttle position sensor, IAC valve, Ignition control module, Fuel pressure regulator, fuel filter, fuel pump, fuel pump relay. I have had it to the garage for over 6 hours, diagnostics seem to check all within specs on snap on ultra computer. No check engine light no stored DTC's, I am for a loss on this and if I don't get it fixed by this weekend I'm going to lose my job, have been trying to fix this for 2 weeks now and have spent well over $600 any help appreciated.... also I teste the injectors for power, they have power when you turn the key forward and cranking.

Thanks, Joe

when you try to start it, do you ever give it gas while the engine is cranking? I have starting issues too, and I can always get mine started if I give it some gas.

so the tack ever quit working while driving? it stall when driving for no reason, sometimes it fires right back up, the next time it stalls it wont fire back up for a hour, or 5 days aka starts back up when it feels like it?

if any of that sounds like your car, change the crank sensor. it never sets the code for it either, well hardly ever.

Tack never quits til it cuts off completely, crank sensor already changed, but yes it starts when it wants to and stalls driving down the road without any warning other than Temp seems to always be 1 line above quarter when it occurs

Fuel injectors could be failing. Just because they are getting power doesn't necessarily mean that they are working.

You could also be looking at bad coil pack.

Go to the jy and grab some coil packs and injectors. I did that last summer and paid $5. Came with a 30 day warranty :D

Ok so a little update, I changed the Ignition Control Module and all 3 coil packs. Changed the entire ignition harness including multi switch and new ignition switch... problem persists.... However on my old harness I spliced in a toggle switch and for the life of me I can't rember what wires I put it on, it allowed the car to run if I started it on either without shutting off... Sense I changed the Harness the problem is back which is pointing me straight to the KeyPass 3 system failing, dealer wants over 900 to replace the entire security system, I have already put a grand in parts in this car =( I am trying to figure out how to bypass the security system either with a toggle switch or a resistor, but every video I have seen on this bypass says there is a small yellow wire coming from the ignition and should goto pin b6 on the BCM plugin... now my 2003 GTP doesn't have any small yellow wire coming from the ignition, has a huge yellow (starter wire) I have been messing with a multi meter and can't for the life of me figure out which two wires will show the resistor resitance when the key is turned to on.... help please

The PK3 system on these cars is a huge issue. 1000's of problems with it and rarely does anyone know the real fix to the problem. I have an issue with mine right now, but luckily it starts and runs fine. Just the security light flashes for the first 10min. I actually disconnected the TDM, and now the light doesn't flash and it still runs and drives fine. No way am I paying a Stealership to figure out my problem.

Now, back to your problem, in my research I've found Newrockies, http://newrockies.com/ They make a complete PK3 bypass for $279.00 so you'll never have to worry about the stupid thing failing again. They state it's easy to install, but then any stereo shop could also. I haven't got one yet, because I've taken on fixing my issue as a little pet hobby at this time, but eventually I may turn to them.

Where is the TDM actually located on these damn cars? thanks

It goes around the lock cylinder.

so your saying you unplugged the small harness and have no issues??? how do you get your key out, the white/black wire powers the ignition lock cylinder and the shift lock to get out of park on my 2003 gtp.... I will try this though, thanks

No, I unplugged the TDM harness plug that connect into the Ignition Switch Harness. The light no longer flashes and the car starts/runs fine. It's not supposed to though. LOL
