Well I've had my 98 GTP for about 2 years now and ever since I got it the HUD has worked less and less. I don't mean it has been dimming I mean completely off. Since I didn't travel at night that much I didn't worry about it till now. I wanted to do some other work on the interior and move the hud switch to the left side so I figured I'd hunt down the electrical issue. What I found was the dimmer switch was the cause of the short (actually open but we'll get to that). Being the tinkerer that I am I figured I'd pop the sucker apart and see what is up. I found that the feelers/legs for the dimmer control are actually thin strand of wire that contact the small little circuit board inside. One of the legs was frayed and bent all over the place. (Not surprising as this car appears to have been rode hard and put away wet many years before I got it.) Attached are the pics of the fix that I did to get it to work properly again. I just finished this about an hour ago along with the switch relocation and it works great again. If you have any questions please ask and I will answer as best I can.
