• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

HUD - it works but is not adjustable?

I've read a few other threads about the HUD having a broken spring.

My HUD is working and I had to lower my seat an inch or two and I can see it on the windshield.

I've already had it apart and I found the motor to adjust the mirror was unplugged. :th_wtf: The springs for the mirror are intact from what I could see unless I was looking in the wrong place - some of the embedded images were missing. Is the motor a common failure? I plan to take it out again and do more of a bench test (wiring directly to the motor pigtail to see if I can get the thing to move.)

So I found out after bench testing that the actual HUD switch below the instrument cluster is broken!

The small plastic welds broke off and thusly the switch is now toast. I don't think that's going to be easily repairable as it'll be under tension most of the time...

I think I'll try posting a Wanted ad, I looked around at some wreckers and alas, I found none with a HUD from that generation...
