HPTuners Unlimited Year/Model Multiple PCM Question

BrandonHall10

Solving problems
Looking to purchase HPT. I currently own a 2000 GTP.

If I unlock the entire 2000 Grand Prix year/model (for 6 credits), will I be able to use other junkyard PCM's from 2000 GP's for different setups?

Can I can program unlimited PCM's assuming they came from a 2000 GP?

If I remember correctly, it comes with 8 credits. Which means, if you buy out the whole year, you can use one other non-2000 PCM from the JY.

Otherwise, you can have unlimited 2000 PCMs.

Thanks guys!

I assumed it was do-able, but I wanted to be sure. Local JY charges $35 for a pcm. I planned on having on for E85, and one for 91. Also have a buddy with an '02 GS. Is there any reason an '00 GTP PCM wouldn't work in his car?

The PCMs will swap, but you will need to purchase credits if you go the route you planned.

Or you can unlock your car, the JY PCM, and then your buddy's car and still have 2 credits left for misc purposes.

I was actually looking into doing just about the same thing as OP. But when I Google dhp for sale I can't seem to ever find one. Any advice on where to look for it? Anyone on here selling?

thats pretty cool.

I have a 2001 gtp that ive been working on lately. my last gtp was a 99. I use the pcm from the 99 as a spare, but for some reason yet to be determined, the 99 pcm doesn't like to be run in the 2001 and when it is, the car does not run as good. I think something might be wrong with the 99 pcm because all the changes I did to it with the dhp didn't register.

99 and 01 are different pcm's part numbers, could be why. i do have my 98 on a 01 pcm. but that dont always mean they will work.

when i did the 01 pcm in my regal i did it in the car, and then it went into the compatibility mode window, then i had to pick a years and engine combo that matched my car. and it went fine.

that compatibility window has not come up on the off board. nor have i been able to make it open up again. so im thinking when you switch a pcm with non matching part numbers it should be done in the car.

maybe if you put the pcm back to the 99 bin, then try to flash it in the car, it may work better if the compatibility window opens up.

thats a good point, I will keep that in mind. my preference is the pcm that came with the car because my friend uses hp tuners and if I have a different pcm than it will charge him more credits
