• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

How to use a Nabi Dreamtab for Torque/OBDII: Tablet Suggestion ~ Kids Tablet(s)

SaukRapids

I can't car too good.
I thought of this a while ago, but forgot once I was using my phone. We have a Nabi Dreamtab/HD8. I chose this link because it shows current price and comparable items ~ https://www.walmart.com/ip/nabi-DreamTab-HD8-Tablet-Wi-Fi-Enabled/36060944

It can connect to any BT OBDII adapter. I tested this in vehicle and it does work with Torque Lite/Pro. I should note here that the specific model we have has reached its final Android update. The current model/version should be available in Specs. I tested with Lite on my 05 GTP. It has wireless. I don't have a wireless adapter to test, sorry.

The video takes a sec loading the store, be patient. It's 2 1/2 minutes long (EDIT: To view the main point, skip to about 1:55. The beginning shows how to get the app.) ~

Here's a couple pics without the red cover. The back could be used as an attach point. ~

I haven't tried removing the screws that hold the squares. It's solid.

To get the bluetooth menu to appear, I had to kinda drag on the upper right corner. These things are pretty tough. The store rep literally threw it down the isle, and no, I didn't buy the demo one. Lol

It looks like there's more kids tablets and such now. If looks aren't that important, but being carried in your car is, these are just fine. :th_thumbsup-wink:

Shortly after the video, a message came up that 46 things updated. Hah, probably explains why it looks so sluggish. I'll make a new vid in the daylight.

Edit: I won't have any clearer light today. If you just want to see that it'll work and me throw the device around, skip to about 1:55.

The tablet came with directions to get into Parent or Mommy Mode. I would check to make sure other kids devices can 1) Use the internet. 2) Has Bluetooth. 3) Has access to the full Play store. There's a kids protected mode on ours that will only show kids games and apps.
