How to remove stock fiber exhaust gasket behind cat???

I'm just finishing up a motor install with headers and high flow cat. I notice there is a fiber gasket (i think) on the cat back exhaust flange and it has a chip missing on the side. The exhaust didn't leak with the stock pipes and factory cat but I know it will leak if I install over this gasket. It must of pulled apart removing the stock parts.... I tried removing the gasket with a screw driver but it's difficult on my back and with a bum left shoulder. Is there any tricks for removing this gasket???

Grinder, wire wheel.

If you could get it in there, it will just start chewing it up and fall off.

Thanks for the tip! I just got a grinder that I used to fix a crack in my basement wall.
