How to measure correct ride height?

2004 GT.

I just installed Quick-struts all the way around. Obviously it's going to sit higher than it used to... but it looks much too high to me, especially in the front. Oh yeah, and MPG has dropped from about 27.3 to 25.5.

What is the measurement for correct ride height on these cars?

you always measure from the center of the hub to the fender so that the tire pressure doesn't matter.

it's all relative. yours probably won't be identical to any other car out there on the road.

but i wouldn't be surprised if replacing the struts and springs raised the car a good amount from the stock equipment that was probably worn beyond repair and sagging.

How do you like the feel of the ride with those replacements?

What part numbers did you use?

Did you replace the mounting plate too?

I have a GTP that year and need to do all four of mine. I'm not looking to modify just replace since I now have 100k on the car. Fronts were replaced once but it's time for them all.

Thanks. I was hoping that someone had the correct specification for ride height so I could check - I wonder if Monroe is making a "universal" quick strut which is actually designed for a heavier front end (i.e. with a supercharger) but is making my car sit too high.

The quick strut includes the mounting plate... so yes I did replace that. And otherwise, it rides much better than it did on my worn-out struts, and obviously it's much safer now. They were the Monroe 172177 (F) and 271662 (R).

Before I lowered my car I was sitting at 28.25 inches all around on 100k springs. I measured from the ground to the fender centered on the wheel center cap. What are you measuring with your new quick struts?

Jeff-

Thanks for the point of comparison, that will be useful.

I haven't measured yet because I didn't have the specification to compare against, I will check and let you know.
