Nice job on the write up. I was lucky enought to find a kit with a snap in cover. Wont look as good as yours, but it did the trick. I'll be pointing a few people I know this way. They were recently talking about trying to fill that cubby in.

my bad about the thread jack, the guy has just been really helpful in some of the problems i had (long story), i'll keep the advertising to minimal if at all sry...

any best buy has this kit, $20, slight modifictation to the factory brackets and wow you have a flush mount. the kit is metra 99-4544. here's what i used

I had to file a bit so the bolt that hold the kit together would fit in the opening, then re-enforced the pieces with super glue for a tight fit
