How to: LED turn signal mirrors

LED pods were from an 2004 Cadillac DTS.
Mirrors were found on Century/Regal.

I found that the mirrors with straight lines going up and down them were much easier to use/mod the heater than the other zigzag version

Upon trying to peel the heater in the zigzag, I found that the coating holding it to the mirror would have spots where it no longer covered. Illuminating the LED's would show the areas where the coating had peeled. It looked bad up close. Looking for a method of making holes w/o lifting the heater, I came across a set of leather punches. They don't actually cut, so I used a torch to heat the end and melt the heater with the end. This gave me perfect circles. Cleaned the goop from the circles and illuminated, perfect.

Placed the LED on and gooped in place

Gooped the backing onto the mirror, the final product is ready to be put into the car.

Vodka & Brake Cleaner = Stopped Russian!

sweet! are you going to wire the heated mirrors into the rear defroster? another idea would be wiring them into the switch for the heated seat.

Regals came with heated mirrors, therefore they are on the defrost circuit from the factory. Here's the one good on car pic I have.

This may be a stupid question, but I'm assuming you ran the LED turn signals to the indicator stalk? Which begs the question if that is easy to do for someone of moderate experience working on a GP, but who has never opened a steering column before.

I was so close to getting a set from that guy (one of the guys atleast) on the GMForum; but he sold out a couple days before I emailed him. So I am still searching for a set. Looking forward to doing this mod my self one day this year I hope.

You don't have to go into the column. The wires I believe come out and show there face in the footwell of the drivers side.

Perfect. Makes it a lot easier for me to get into now haha!

On the W body cars, the wiring is usually at the BCM/main wiring where the dash meets the body. I tapped in near the e brake.
