How to increase Throttle response on 04+ GPs

SF9777

My GP has been sort of hesitating when i open up the throttle, from about 10MPH i do full throttle and it takes a few secs for the car to really take off. Sometimes it takes longer from a dead stop and sometimes it just goes. So i want to know what can i do to increase the throttle response on my 07 GP besides cleaning the throttle body and flipping the motor mounts? Btw which ones are the motor mounts and what am i flipping:th_scratchhead:? i am new to this and i read the safely modding 3800 thread like half way and the pics did not help me figure out which is the motor mount but after research i think its the 2 black mounts to this silver bracket to the engine i think? Also what does it mean to port the throttle body? So ya some help will be greatly appreciated.

throttle response or throttle FEEL?

clean your throttle body first. there is also a delay built into the DBW system, it's always going to be like that unless the tuner gods have figured out a way to remap the DBW tables.

it doesnt when tuned correctly. my car has a DBW system too, but i did some tweaking on the throttle percentage maps and now it drives great in comparison to how it came off the lot. subaru mapped it retarded to give the driver the feeling that the car was quick, but all they really did was make 10% throttle 30% throttle and by the time you got to 70% it was already WOT. made it a linear map and the car drives awesome and how it is supposed to.

Oh, I was under the impression that the tables were unlockable. I'll have to keep this in mind.

i have no idea if you can edit the tables or not. if you cant i see some serious issues with that.

I'd install poly upper engine mounts instead of bothering to flip the one... it still leaves tons of squish. The one you flip is the square mount inside the clamshell attached to the radiator support. The other upper engine mount is the round one inside the "dogbone."

But really, you need to clean your mass airflow sensor with mass airflow sensor cleaner and use throttlebody cleaner to clean your throttlebody. Remove the airbox and strap a 9" cone filter on the end of the mass airflow sensor tube.

And fresh stock spark plugs are nice if yours are near the end of their lifespan.

I'm just getting into the whole tuning thing and I thought this would be good info for the future.

If I ever need any help I'll hit you up, OK.:)

i wouldnt be the one to ask as i've never done my own tuning. your best bet is to make a post in the PCM tuning section. a lot of pretty knowledgeable guys frequent that section.

but, to stay on topic i agree with everthing said above. do a little cleaning and tune up. see where it gets you.

Little bit of both like when i can feel it building the power and then taking some time to put to the wheels so i guess more of the response. ya i have know idea on the tuning. we cleaned the throttle body like a couple of months ago and we did not clean it that well but well enough for this jerking problem we had to go away and the maf sensor cleaned as well. Later on i think we will clean it better and thoroughly.

What are the poly engine mounts? if its too much i think i rather just flip the mounts but if its cheap then ill get it, you got a like to em? Thanks for clearing that up now i know what your exactly talking about.

We will clean the MAF and throttle body again later when we get the leaks our car has of coolant and PS fluid and little bit of the oil now. that and i think we will get some new spark plugs for the car and wires for it too along with detailing the engine to give it a new engine look. Which Spark plugs and wires do you guys recommend and how hard are they to replace?

Thanks guys for the info too

Tried just the rad side... felt more like placebo effect than anything else. Once I put the rounds in, much bigger improvement.

Only time I noticed anything was on downshifts.

Until I had some power.

You'll be going WOT, then let off entirely just to hear the engine impose a large amount of shock to the chassis.

Buy both of these or neither... really not worthwhile until you get both pairs.

ZZPerformance - Poly Dogbone Bushings #ZZ-PLYDBB[/QUOTE]

WOW was not expecting it to cost that much, i think we might get them later on or probably not since you say to buy both or none. Plus i did notice recently that the rubber on the dog bone i think it is just cracked up and made the mount loose and now shakes, any thing cheaper to use to fix that? my bro and will think about the mounts and probably look em up on amazon or ebay. Thanks for links.

Also ya we installed a "make it your self from home depot" intake like a couple of months ago, check it out on my thread.

Any good spark plugs and wires you would recommend for my car, and is it easy to replace or what do we do cant seem to find a write up on the site.

Cheap fix for broken mount? Get a deal at a junkyard, hit rockauto, ask Morad...

Spark plugs? Buy stock iridium plugs. Buy $30 store brand plug wires.
Job's easy, probably five or more tutorials on it floating around.

Ya my bro was thinking the same thing about going to the junk yard, and we might just flip the mounts for now. That will still help right?

Ok ill look around for tutorials and what about those NGK spark plugs? Also i forgot to mention we have had this check engine light on for a while now and it says that there is incorrect air flow detected, any idea on what that is? Thanks for the help
