How similar are the stock 99 t/b's vs. pre 98's

Just curious how similar they are, from what i understand they are the same bore, just the 99 has slightly better flowing walls? correct me if im wrong. Basically im trying to sell my overkill pcm and the question pop't up as to whether or not the pcm would work on a 98' since the t/b's are different for the years.

The 97-98 have a huge aluminum piece in the middle for the different maf sensor, the 99+ don't have that, and have th newer maf sensor..... I would say no to using a PCM for a 97-98 on a 99+.....It might not cause any problems, but the fuel trims would def. be off

if you want a sweet hogged out throttle body definitely start with a 97/98. youll have less chance of breaking through and you can physically make it bigger.

The bracket's are the same on the throttle bodies? Could someone with a pre 99' t/b upgrade to a 99 style t/b and maf by just simply replacing it? granted there would be tuning changes needed.

Yes, they have the same bolt pattern and will physically swap just fine, you would just need to tune the MAF.
