how hard would it be to move a motor?

so, i'm going tomorrow to more than likely pick up an L67 motor, fully assembled. the guy put a 3" pulley on the supercharger with no supporting mods and blew two pistons, so i'm using it for top swap parts. although there's a possibility everything will be cleaned up and put in the for sale section here. i'll keep y'all posted.

but anyways, in my haste of getting a hold of the guy, i gave little thought to the concept of moving it north about 45 miles. i've since thought about it, and would like some input from the forum.

i have a pretty big truck, a trailer, some wood blocks, and lots of straps. the motor has been pulled out of the car and is on an engine stand. the first idea was to try to get it in the truck bed, but that involves lifting the motor by hand maybe a foot. the second idea was putting it on the trailer, with some wood blocks supporting it, and straps all over it. but then i would have to lower the motor about a foot. third idea was to lay it forward so it's resting on the front exhaust manifold and possibly the ac pulley. in any case, i'm really hoping the guy has an engine hoist.

so what sounds best here?
 


Yea ive taken a complete 3800 in my trunk before over 150 miles to my brothers house. Didnt even feel it.... gotta love boost!!
 


wow. i knew the trunks were big but geeze. any special tricks to getting it in? like i said, i'm anticipating doing this without a hoist

sad part is, i can't tell if this is sarcasm or a pretty solid idea lol.

so from what i'm getting, it's not worth taking the trailer, and me and a friend could lift a fully assembled 3800 about 4 feet and drop it in a truck bed? can i get an estimate on weight? 300lbs or so?

edit: nevermind, wiki gives me that at 392lbs

My buddy picked up a complete roller 305. The guy had an engine hoist though. Placed it on an old tire and some wood blocks in the bed of the truck and tied it down with ratchet straps.
 
I did it with my brother and a friend. We lifted it out of a truck into my garage, but that was with the trans on it. That's a heavy mother.
 
alright fellas, we were able to pick it up, and i'm now the proud owner of a semi-complete L67 :)

the piston was barely chipped, i'll get pics tomorrow. for having a 3in pulley i was expecting nothing but connecting rods, but this is seriously barely a chip. i'm planning on starting the tear down sunday. just a few pieces short of a full top swap, i need the throttle body and the pcm/wiring harness. and of course replacement gaskets or bolts/head studs. and the stock pulley lol. there's really no time table on this, seeing as how i'm in the middle of being promoted at work and transferring colleges, not to mention broke. but it'll be done the right way with the help of the great people here at GPF

thanks in advance for answering all of my noob questions. this will be my first time tearing into a motor and will be learning stuff through a lot of trial and error. i want to do the majority of it myself, and can't wait to learn as much as i can
