How do you adjust your parking brake?

I'm just curious what procedures you use. I was dicking around half the afternoon adjusting my parking brake shoes. Even with the proper J-tool (which I spent $40 on) I found it to be of little to no use to me at all. Just wondering what some of you do. I'm surely not the only one who has done this job...
 


Crap, I had a write up or a diagram somewhere. There was something else that needed to be adjusted other than just the cylinder at the brakes themselves.
 
Everyone that i talked to said to do something different, someone told me to adjust where the 2 cabled meet, someone said their is a bolt on the hub, i got frustrated and didnt get anywhere. I took it to my mechanic and he adjusted it for $20.00. Well spent considering the aggrivation of trying it miself.
