Like the title says..
How did you guys come to own your first GP??

Mine is kinda a story of sadness..
I had a brand new Moutaineer, 96 Mustang GT, new house and a new Harley Davidson motorcycle.. I was the owner of a fairly young business..
I was also working full time.. I desided that I didnt wanna work any more and quit my job.. Got a business partner cause I wanted to work even less..
Long story short.. Business partner screwed me.. My business went under and I had to sell everything to get outta debt..
I had to say bye bye to my Stang.. Mountaineer and the house.. There was no way on Gods green earth I was giving up My Harley..
My cousin bought this 2002 Grand Prix GT back in 2006 with 28k on it( HUD, moon roof, heated seats, dual zone sliders HAVC, the works!) to drive back and forth to Kansas City from MI and back over and over again because he was marrying a girl he met there..
After getting married in 07 he bought himself a hell of a nice wedding gift.. A brand new Mustang GT.. From 07 till 2011 when he heard I was losing everything.. It had 500 miles put on it..
And in march while I was moving back to my home town and all.. He got new tire, brakes, LIM done.. Tune up.. All fluids flushed.. The works..
He called me up and told me that if I flew down to him.. Hed sell it to me for $2000.00..
So.. In April of this year.. I came into my first ever.. Ta Da!! GRAND PRIX..
Thought Id hate this car.. But.. I cant seem to find one reason( other then the stinking AC/Heater controls are blown) to hate it..

And thats my story..
Sorry.. Its a long one.. Lol

Some guy brought his black 1997 GTP to us because the car wouldnt shift into gear once it warmed up. My friend told the guy it most likely needed a new trans, he asked how much it cost my friend told him anywhere from $1,500 to $3,000 depending on if he wanted a used one from a junk yard or a new one, my friend was just guessing at the price he had no idea, the guy said he didn't want to spend that much on fixing it and I asked the guy how much he wanted for it and he said well $1,800. Gave the guy the cash and started looking the car over. Pulled the dipstick for the transmission and the fluid was black as the car was. Decided well its worth a shot to just drop the pan check for any chunks of stuff or metal shavings and put in a new filter, well ~25,000 miles later the damn thing still drives :) but it does need a new torque converter clutch solenoid.

after i totaled my first car, i went looking for a replacement. I was originally looking at mustang GTs or any other sporty car. then i came across a GTP on craigslist. i saw it was supercharged and said im buying that. i thought it was super fast and supercool cause its supercharged. sold that one and got another.

Car searching for a first car for myself, and started looking at certain things I wanted in a car; good running engines, decent economy, semi-sporty looks, decent/good safety ratings, and something that wasn't going to cost me a fortune.
Eventually I got looking at all different kinds of GP's, specifically the 97-03's. I actually found a black 97 GTP sedan with 76k, but passed it up at first cause the interior was pretty much destroyed and the price was kinda high. About 2 weeks after first looking at though it I called the guy up to tell him I'd take it, and he said it was gone. I was pissed. Looking back now though I'm glad it was gone cause it didn't have a HUD, or power leather seats, or dual climate control, or a sunroof, or "chrome" rims, but my white 98 GT coupe has all of that stuff, and at a fraction of the price tag. ;)

I suppose you could say I first got into GP's at a pretty young age though. One day in middle school my uncle picked me up from school in his green GP (which I later found out was a GTP). At the time I had no idea what it meant, but he said his car had a "supercharger". I still remember pulling out of the school drive and being thrown back into the seat when he mashed on the gas, tires squealing and all. I'd never seen, let alone felt, a 4-door "grocery getter" move so fast in my life. I guess you could say I was hooked. :D

had a 98 z34 monte carlo. 270000 plus km on her. it started with the trans losing overdrive, then starting losing compression and misfiring (piston rings i found out after i sold it) then it got hailed on all within 8 months. so i needed a new car.

instead of buying another car outright i decided to finance one with some warranty. bought my GP with 35000 km 2.5 years ago. now at 120000km and got lots more to go.

Once upon a time I used to have a 02 GTP, but had to sell it before i moved to germany. then after my deployment i wanted another grand prix..... so i bought the GXP i have now. The End.

I've been into 3800's for a bit over a year now. Started out with a white Regal GS (Ugly duckling) that had about 175k on it. Bought it from a buddy that freshened it up, but had lost his job and needed money to pay taxes on his house. $500 later it was mine.

Ran great, but developed the LIM leak, Fixed it, then while looking at CL, found my current black Regal GS. Figuring itd be nice to have a parts car, and the fact that it was listed for $700, long story short i ended up buying it for $400, one fuel pump later and it was running. Not bad for an '00 Regal GS with 165k miles.

Once i shined it up, it was MUCH nicer looking than the white regal, So i sold the white Regal for more than what i paid for both Regals. :)

Cut to the present, or about 3 months ago. I was looking for another car for the wifey to drive, and figured i'd look into 3800 powered vehicles, Supercharged specifically. Then came across a 04 Grand Prix GTP with 125k on it listed for $5,500...Just a bit over what i wanted to spend, really; But i decided it was worth a look after having gotten sniped out of a 02 GTP coupe with 130k and a new trans for $2600.

After a bit of negotiation with the seller, i brought him down to $3,800 cash for the 04 GP GTP.

And that's how i got the 04!

Got a 98 GTP back in 07 after falling in love with my sister's when we were in high school. Destroyed it and traded my Tahoe in for my Comp G. Best decision I've made vehicle wise.

Blew up the engine in my old Bonnie SSEi (mom didnt take care of it before giving it to me.... sludgy engine and regular unleaded gas...smh) Needed a good replacement.. So I found this pretty GTP and picked her up.

dad bought a black 98 gt coupe in 01 with 92k drove it for a couple years, learned to drive on that car. bought it from him for 2k in 07 with 165k on it. tranny blew after that, needed a car bought a beater 92 grand am 5 speed, drove that for a year car was totaled while parked at a friends house, bought a 96 mitsu mirage coupe S, drove for 6 months. found the GTP in 2010 sold the mirage for what i payed for it and bought the GTP :) still have the 98 gt now with 220k+ (odometer stopped working)

Wife's aunt was about to buy the GP then realized it would not fit in her garage, so I bought it. 8K below sticker price for brand new car also helped seal the deal.

Was into the 3800 scene and figured I'd flip a modded car after putting it back to stock. Found a GP and went to tow it home.

Found many of the parts to be lower quality or different brands than the seller had stated. Broke a little more than even and sold off the car as well. Still see it driving around.

After my girlfriend ran her Buick Skylark into the ground with 220,000 miles, I gave her my mint condition Ford Probe GT with 40,000 miles on it and then went out and bought my Pontiac Grand Prix GTP coupe brand new out the door for $26K, I have had it ever since and still only have 80,000 miles on it.

When my 99 Se started to have tranny issues we started looking for a replacement car, we were on a tight budget 7k. then when the brake lines exploded into a million pieces and failed miserably we jumped on the first car we could find that we like that was 7k all in.
found this 05 and never looked back.

I started with a GTP because it had nice 18inch chrome on it when i was 17... Spent most of what i had saved in highschool on it...

I still drive it today, and 150k miles later it is only worth 2k less than what I bought it for. I ended up wrecking it and got 2800 from insurance (after I fixed it myself) so it has been a great car for me.

Sad part is the dumb thing rusted the F out... oh well.

Ummm.

I had a old Buick.

Rear ended a Suburban.

Totalled the car.

Bought the GTP because it was supercharged and I was in High School and it had 4 doors so I could cart the b1tches around. Been in the scene since early '07. Haven't had any plans of leaving even if I sell the car.

My story was the typical searching for my first whip. I test drove several cars within a span of a few months. After a while i narrowed it down between either an 02 nissan maxima GXE or SER?idk with 132k, 01 camaro v6 with 66k, this 01 gp gt with 98k, an 04 tib with 77k, or a 99 civic ex with 123k(HA!). So finally i just said well the GP is the better balance out of all. Its got xm, leather, coupe, The milage isnt too bad, its very clean on the outside its sporty like i like em, nothin seemed too wrong under the hood ( except a whistling bad brake booster and brake repair needed) and it had some decent power. So bought it 2 and half years ago for 7k paid it off in 20 months and now im just havin some fun in my first baby.

Ill make my story shot... Had a 2001 Buick Park Avenue Ultra with the 3.8 s/c, i paid it off, 3 months later it had a spun rod bearing. Found the gp at wilde toyota and beat the hell out of the sales guy.... got a 2004 Gp with 90k on the clock (from south carolina where it was leased to an army sarg.) for 6k
