how bad is tapshift?

i have it on my comp g and use it occasionally. id say maybe 40% of the time. i seen a thread with people sayin it beats up the tranny. how bad is it? should i avoid using it? is it just bad when beating through the gears or all together as i use it sometimes to just get good milage by keeping the revs low. thanks for the input

Its all in the electronics. Your tranny is already Electronicaly controlled. Any harm would come from frequent shifts both ways when there isnt a need or anything else that would cause wear and tear.

I have always been easy on my car so I have no need to use it but somtimes I do.

there is nothing wrong with using tapshift. it controls the electronic portion of the tranny, therefore there is nothing different about using tapshift vs. the computer controlling shifts. its not like putting it in manual low and shifting, as different components are engaged then and damage could result as there are different members holding components at that point.

Ive been too scared to try. But I have heard that the tap shift allowed for slightly higher revs.
