honda/VW/caliber SRT4 vs GTP 2 door

well, I need to get a gopro or something so I have some videod proof and just leave it mounted in my dash. around san antonio there are tons of racekar's that are more than willing to run.

ANYWAY, everytime I get the car out of the garage (twice a week) seems someone wants to race.



So on the way to go to a restaurant (20 or so miles of highway) I had a nice new VW 4 door hatch back pass me. said GTI on it. 2.0t? sharp looking car. then I have a honda boy race by me :th_scratchhead: So, I speed up a little. the honda has a fart can, and fast and the furious chrome lights on a black late 90's model 2 door accord. (probably 4 cyl). he is reving and giving the GTI guy all sorts of crap.

anyway. I was about 5 cars or so behind the GTI. all of a sudden the honda raps up(down shifted) and sounds like a bunch of PO'd bees. the GTI lets out just a little emisions, and I punch it. the GTI walks the honda, and he is still given it hell. I then walk by him within seconds. then the gti and I let off. we both slow, and I tried to get up beside him, but never got a good opportunity to try again. he didnt really pull away, but I didnt gain either. would have been a fun run. as he exited I was checking out his car, and it looked pretty stock. nicely tinted windows, and well washed car. looked fun to drive!

Then on the way home. I have some guy behind me right on my butt. I turn onto the access road (feeder road to highway). then he passes me and jumps on breaks in front of me to get onto the highway. I am a bit annoyed so as we enter I am ready to jump lanes, and blow by him. well, he didnt make it easy... I then start looking (not allot of street lights on the outskirts), and notice its a caliber, but also an SRT4... cool

So after we are finally on and at speeds I get in the fast lane and start to pass him, and out of know where he guns it?! already?! I didnt even get a heads up we were going. So I lay into it for the heck of it. He had already got the jump. by the time my car kicked down my front tire was at his rear wheel. up to about 100 I stayed pretty much at his rear wheel. at first I got back the momentum I lost by him getting the jump, but I couldnt gain, and to be honest any further and he probably would have pulled away (felt like thats what was happening after getting up near 100)

anyway. it was kind of a fun night. I am not claiming I beat or could beat the GTI or SRT4. However, it would have been a good race I think had we gotten the chance... OH, and I did feel bad for the honda guy. I did say out loud poor honda guy...
 


Gotta love those open TX highways, where were you at? 410? 35? 281?

I have had to much fun going up to 140mph on these open highways (in my 90 LX 5.0) Nobody wants to race a Gold GTP hahaha.

Naw bro, I got family in SA. I grew up in Buda, TX north of San Marcos and south of Austin. My house and family are in Copperas Cove, TX west of Fort Hood. I am stationed in Fort Polk, LA waiting to medically retire. Got about 4-5 more months in the Army. Once I'm back in TX though I plan on going around and hanging out with all the TX GP brothers. One day I will get over to SA raceway, last time I was there was 12 years ago when it was called river city raceway. Heard it was still a good track. For all out fun though, TX highways are too fun.
