Holy misfire Batman

Ok on the way to work I was misfiring like crazy... Not enough for me to feel in the car but the aeroforce caught every last one. Plugs and wires were just changed by the mechanic (friends dad) gapped to specs. The misfires were happening before this so I know its prolly not that (but could be I guess). Ive also had the cat efficiency code. My thought is a plugged cat. Should I start looking for a new one or what other steps should I take (im broke!).

BTW should have included I was seeing misfires on all cylinders however the most were on Cylinder 2 and 4

Two and four are both on the back side, right next to each other. I would first verify that these two plug wires were not crossed. Follow them from the coil to the plugs.

when they came up it was between 2-12 at a time. Would reset and pop back up later in driving. However, to verify they mostly happened on 2 and 4 however showed up on others too. I will check wires tonight while I have it in the garage!
