Hit & Runs

I live in a condominium, which means I have to park next to my neighbors in designated spots. Since I bought my car, a little less than 2 years ago, I've been the victim of 2 hit and runs while parked at home. Yesterday I walked out to my car to find that it had been hit for the second time, and I'm pretty pissed off. Not only is this no mistake of mine, no one will own up to it either. This leaves me to fix yet another "accident" that I had no part of, which is extremely frustrating. Anyway, I'll get to the point...

Anyone have any ideas on how to prevent this kind of crap? I park next to my immediate neighbor who also cares about his car, backed in as close as I can be to him without being obnoxious. Apparently that wasn't enough for the stupid girl who parks next to me, or whoever was in her spot to not hit me.

I've considered: a dash cam, and an extremely heavy duty car cover which prevents dings (it'd just be a pain in the a** to cover it every night). This is especially concerning to me because I wanted to get a newer car next year. So I was just wondering if anyone had an idea I haven't thought of.

Thanks in advance guys!

if you park near your condo unit and can see the car from a window, a security cam from your window would work, or the in car cam, but they are fixed in the direction they are facing.

i got the same problem here where i live, one ass caused $800 in damage to my mothers car. in the form of door dings, the whole side of the car had to be re painted. and the dents filled.

so she gets a new parking spot, then the maintenance people start parking in front of her car with the plow jeep, it has a spreader on the back, its clears as day that they are backing the jeep in and parking by feel, as there 3 dents that line up with the angle iron support on the spreader. as ive learned, no real proof who did it, like "you need to see it happen here" so nothing could be dont at that time.

then i find the front bumper of the jeep on my mothers cars bumper. take pics, confront the management they say we dont hit that car, i say really? i got a pic, she says i drive that truck, i say so your hitting the car, shes like tossing a fit how she dont hit cars, i look over at the jeep, look i have pics, and look! its still on the bumper, she and i walk over and there its, touching, shes acting like she didnt do it now. YET, SHE JUST TOLD ME SHE DRIVES THE JEEP LOL

pic: this is more then enough to prove they hit the car more then once here. what she dont like is i took her rules, and used them on her ass. every thing they told me to do to protect the car from others, i did to the management co lol

im just telling her to back off the bumper, dont want repairs, but should there be any further damage, your getting the bill, the end. she was all pissed off and walked off, why, cause she fvcked up more then once and got nailed.

That really sucks man. It's a shame that people can't take responsibility for what they did. As far as the camera in the window idea, I actually might do that. It's so stupid that I even have to take measures like this.

Have you talked to the management co/condo association? You could suggest a memo(they are good for that) for the whole property suggesting irresponsible parking. Tell them your cam idea and you will get the police involved. They don't like police reports because it will tarnish the reputation of the property.
Good luck. I was in a more repressed complex for years because I worked there. They knew who I was and would have power to make there life miserable. Didn't stop a$$ clowns from leaning on the car or once I saw a lady set her grocerys on my hood while she snatched her kids.

truth is, the condo association wont give a crap unless their property that was damaged. your car is your problem. same as where i live, the building dont give one crap.

call the cops and report it tho, it should be done. maybe they will match up dents and scratches, not likely, but it does happen sometimes. you may have to find the car that you think hit you, and point it out to the cops. let them decide, thats what they are for.

I'm just letting it go I don't want to get the police involved. I did that the first time and was told that it would go through insurance, which means it'd show up on the carfax that it was in an "accident". The damage isn't bad enough to justify that kind of history on its record. I'll just go to a guy who does quality work at a fair price and fix it myself :th_depressed:

i had a guy who was starting to door ding my truck up. assigned parking, i know whos doing it.

guy bought the car, it sat for months, no plates. then one day its got OH plates. and hes driving it, and killing my truck. so i left him a "nice" note on his car, ( well not so nice really) nothing seem legal about it, so i said im sure you dont want the cops called. no more damage after that.

Same sorta **** happened to me with my old gp.

My neighborhood is in the shape of a "D", I live in the inside lower-left part of the "D" on the corner (last house on the left if your coming from the top part of the D). I decided to take the long way around the neighborhood (the rounded side of the D). Upon making my right turn to park in front of my house, my next door neighbors friend (we'll call her blonde *****) decides that she wants to slowly run the stop sign in front of my house and turn head on into me. I was the furthest on the right side of the road as possible. I was thinking "she definitely sees be she'll move around.

Nope the left wheel of her Nissan rogue (the smaller Milan) smashed into the front left of my bumper. So I get out of the car "say I was so damn close" (to home). She had already backed up off my car, then gets out of her car. We agree to exchange information. I tell her "I live right here let me park and go inside and get a paper and pencil". I got in my car and pulled up 7 or so feet to where I usually park. And that's where she guns it out of there. Probably on the drugs.

I immediately call the police and do that whole deal. The cop finds her the next day at the wawa that is literally 2 minutes walking distance from my house., so he comes to my house and tells me the good news. Like I'd never see you (blnde *****) again, your my neighbors friend and we live in a small ass town. The cop tells me that she'd be hit with a lot of charges including hit and run, leaving the scene of an accident and running a stop sign.

The next day blonde ***** and blonde *****es mom rings my door bell(which you're not supposed to do) and try's to tell me that there was a misunderstanding. That she thought I said I didn't want to do anything about it. I said "yeah right, then why did you fly around my block so fast, I could hear your engine go all the way around the block.

We talked and I agreed that if you pay for all of the damages, I'll say we had a misunderstanding. Never heard from her again so she got boned anyway, and her insurance covered most of the damages.

OP

I would keep your eye out for cars in your condominium with dents or your paint on them. If they were their before their likely to come back.

take the law inot your own hands find who did it and make them pay (not with cash) otherwise theres not much that can be done some people are just careless and inconsiderate

Yeah look at some bumpers and find the paint lol but man my grandmother had the same problem one was 1 mouths before she paid her 07 dodge Ram Big Horn edition off someone backed in to her bed really looked like they ramed it 3000 for that and she had not fixed it yet waiting on something and she got her money paid the last mouth got the date to bring it in and she parked it at her apartments and some low life kid who thinks he's a gangster shot her truck and the fan stopped it from going in the block but it messed up her cooling system and he smashed her windshield they found him because of the cameras on the building but barley they are hard to see from a far, best would be a place you could catch there plates and car

Not only that my gf brother backed into my bumper didn't say anything to me I didn't care because I'm getting a new one soon but he could have said something to me like I painted my car so at least give me a can of spray paint right? Lol but it s**ks for him because his car is silver and now looks jacked up
