Hissing Noise On A 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix

Hello Everyone,

I have a 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix GT. V6. 3.8L. I have started hearing a irritating hissing noise coming from underneath the car somewhere. This is when the car is sitting still as well as driving it. Also when I am driving and hit the gas it makes a loud noise as well. I don't know if it's the muffler that need to be replaced. I am looking for some answers. If there is someone out there that can help me it would be greatly appreciated.


I went out side and checked the hissing noise seems to be coming from the rear

How is it running? Sounds like a vacuum leak to me. Start the car and get under the hood and see if you can narrow it down a bit.

The only other thought is that the fuel pump is getting loud. Hopefully you don't have a fuel leak back there somewhere!
