Higher KR after LIM Change

99GTPMLA

I have a 1999 GTP with PLOG, 3" catless downpipe, open cone air intake, and 1.95 modded stock rockers. I typically get about a max of 3.5 knock retard in 2nd gear full throttle. A friend and I changed the lower intake manifold gasket last Tuesday because I wasn't sure of the current one. After the change, the car runs fine but I seem to get really high KR, about 11, when the first time I give it full throttle at about 60 when driving. After the first full throttle, it seems to be around 4 knock retard. Is this typicall after changing the LIM? I have only put about 15 miles on it since the LIM change.

When you did the LIM gaskets did you happen to disconnect the battery? If so take it for some gentle drives to let the PCM relearn some parameters. You may have fixed more than just the LIM gaskets (like vacuum leaks) and the ECU is trying to readjust. I'd give it some more miles and then see what you get.

No, I did not disconnect the battery. I will try that when I get home this evening to see if that helps. It ran just fine before the LIM change so I was confused how the LIM gasket change would affect KR.
