High Revs, Late Shifting, and low HP

Hey guys i really need help with this one, while im driving the engine randomly revs really high and kicks while pushing out more gas well when the car shifts into third.(i think) at around 35-45 mph it gets up to 6k rps before it shifts, it has only recently started doing it. now that might sound kind nice for racing, but it doesnt push alot more HP it seems something is robbing my engine, its a 3.1 sfi, it has the enging knocking that many are plagued with..any ideas?
 


These transmissions are 100% electronically controlled so the first place to start is have the car checked for any codes in the pcm history. Autozone typically will have a code reader and check this for free. You may have a bad TPS sensor and that can cause your problems. An actual shop with a scan tool is the best way to have the car checked out so they can watch live engine sensor data and verify it is or is not working properly and if there are any other suspect problems.
