this cant be right. i try to start the car and is hesitates but when it turns over, it idle's at about 3000rpm and slowly climbs to 4000rpom.

HELP!!!!!

ok... just got dont doing a lot of work and i already suspected a vac leak at the lim. maybe ill just replace both those... lol

What work was done...

And check engine lights?

Did you do the work yourself?

We need details, boss.

changed every gasket from the head gaskets up, new MAF, new wires & plugs, new front O2 sensor, new ECT sensor.

did the work myself.

no DTC's yet, i dont want to run it long enough for the PCM to throw any at that high of rpm's

Very possible it is a vacuum leak then...checked all your vac lines and make sure they are all hooked up from previous work done

High RPM's won't effect how or when it'll throw a code...if somethings wrong, all it needs is a few seconds to do so...unplug the MAF sensor, start it again...see if that changes anything.

Hmmm.... Sounds a little familar... on top of checking everything that has been suggested, have you by any chance removed the throttle screen for the MAF in the throttle body? That screwed with my rpms at idle something fierce until i put it back in.

It would...but not anything over 1000-1500 rpm's...this is another issue.

Although if the screen is out...put it back in.

Ya I tried unplugging maf, iac, tps, egr, all that only 1 at a time tho. No I didnt remove the tb screen. Still stock intake. Also, headers got installed. Idk how I forgot to list that. Lol fixed a couple vacuum t connectors. Also discovered that even though it idles at about 4000rpm, the throttle butterfly is still closed. Its not stick cause I can open it both with the gas pedal and with my hand on the tb.

Im going to have to disagree... when mine was out my RPMS were between 2 - 3k at idle... put it back in and it was fine... It was strictly because of that screen being out... no other issue.

Only thing i could suggest... is double check the vacuums and buy an IAC and TPS and replace one at a time... if its the same, quick take it out and try the other one... If neither of them do anything, take them back! Have to eliminate them as the issue before you really start looking deep and putting down alot of cash

FYI... make sure you find the right sized tools to do the trick... the bottom security bolt on the TPS can be a ***** to get at straight on.... when i finally got it out i replaced it with a regular 10 mm bolt so i can easily use a wrench to get at it.

That would be the next step id take if those two dont do it... disconnect MAF sensor and take it out and clean it real good with MAF sensor cleanor. Unless its completely F'ed you should be able to get away with a good cleaning.

You can help narrow the issue... when its idling like that... if you very very gently and very quickly hit the accelerator what happens? Does the idle stick a couple hundred RPMs higher or does it come right back down to where it was?

Ive already replaced the maf, though it was a cheap Ebay maf so it could still be bad. And it jumps and status 500 to 1000rpm higher when I tap the gas pedal.

So it sticks? I'm def leaning towards tps or IAC or the maf is reading incorrectly... also if you still have original maf I'd spray it out good... never know what your getting with no name eBay parts.

Also, I'd pull the throttle body off, clean it real good and remove all remnants of old gasket and get a new one on there so you can eliminate leaking gasket. Doubt that's the issue but its another thing to consider.

FYI I got a spare tps and IAC in working condition laying around if u want them ill give them to you cheap. They are the stock ones... let me know and when u find the issue please post it.
