High beams turn on intermittently when using turn signals

2007 GT....When my headlights are on and I use my turn signal, the high beams randomly turn on, sometimes stay on, and sometimes go off. I am not pushing or pulling in the switch (which normally turns on the high beams), I am just pushing it up or down to turn on the turn signals. Has anyone else had this problem, or does anyone know how to fix it? It is potentially unsafe to use my turnsignals and I would like to try to get this fixed. Thanks!

sounds like the turn signal switch is going bad. Also called a multifunction switch. This is located inside the steering colum and the steering wheel has to come off. Not a job to tackle if your not familiar with disabling airbag systems and the precautions that go along with it . Also it requires special tools.

Thanks for the info. At least I know not to attempt to tackle it myself. Once I get it fixed I might have to be more gentle with the turn signal. I use it everytime I switch lanes and make turns (as I should), but I am not always as gentle with it as I could be. Sounds like I am probably better off buying a brand new switch as I would want one with as little use as possible so I don't have to replace again soon. Appreciated your help!

Any opinions on pulling the fuses on the high beams? I know I couldn't use the high beams, but I wondered if there are any other cautions?

Trying to figure out if it is deffinately the switch. If my drls are on it doesn't do it, and the same goes for my parking lamps. Looks like it is going to be 250+ to get it fixed, and I am just trying to make sure.
