Hey guys, before the flaming starts I have searched quite exhaustively on this topic. I have been debating going to HID for a while now but I do a lot of interstate night driving as well as back roads here in IA and it would be nice to have a kit that produces a USABLE high beam whether it be hid or not. Does anyone have suggestions of a kit that works? More importantly has anyone actually TRIED any of these kits? All your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!! :th_winking:

you arent going to find a HID kit that has a useable high beam unless you look into projectors.
i have a bi-xenon kit that has two filaments in each bulb. the high beam is fairly useless and im pretty sure both of my high beams have burned out now. now i only have regular headlights anyway.

Here are your options:
- High efficacy halogen bulbs (Philips X-Treme Power +80% seem to be the best available right now). These will be brighter than regular bulbs while retaining proper positioning/light pattern, but nowhere near as bright as HID's.
- Projectors (get the original Spyder projectors, not the ones with the 6 LED's in the corner). These come with a separate bulbs for the low and high beam, and even with halogen in the lowbeams output is significantly better than the stock headlights.
- Bi-xenon projectors, which use the HID projector for both low and high beams by moving the cutoff shield. These are a good option only if you know how to make them yourself (or have $695 for which you can't find a better use).

I know most people will tell you that you wont get any usable light output from hid highs but out of the ones that tell you that how many have accually used a bi-xenon kit? I have a bi-xenon kit that I bought from a member here (he bought from 3bspecialties) and I can see amazingly well at night with my high beems on. I drive the highway everyday to work at 5am when the only light on the road is what comes from my headlights. I will tell you from personal experiance get them, there worth it, spend the money and you will never regret it. Just dont get e-bay ones the quality from 3b and e-bay are night and day and I believe thats why the ones I have work so well.

i have a bi-xenon kit as well. when you turn the highs on it is like removing the reflective part from a flashlight and just using the bulb as light. brighter with a wider angle? yup. is it useable in any way? i can sure see the leaves on the trees above me, but the road is not all that good. i usually turn them back to the low beams and they work better.

S2k are low beam only. they are also the exact same as TSX. if you want to retain hight beams, use some TL Bi-Xenon's or even Infiniti FX 35/45 seem to be ok too. best projectors out there imo are TSX for low, and TL for low/high
