HID Suggestions for 02 Grand Prix

Read through all the forums i could find, I need the 9007 bulb, but still confused with the relay harness, some people say definitley need it but the ddm site says i dont, what do you think?

Relay kit just prevents them from flashing and not turning on at start up...

I don't have the relay kit in any car...just flick teh brights a few timez.

Done.

They power up.

Saves you 20 bucks.

Also just read to get the relay if you have daytime running lights, I have disconnected mine so im thinking i dont need it.

I have a 2002 GP, and I did upgrade the headlights to HID's from DDM, exactly the same as you are planning to do. The HID harness (which I have) has a relay in it which is controlled via the current headlight harness (well actually only one side) but never the less, this harness is connected directly to your battery, thus you don't have to trust on the current GP wiring to power the HID's ballast. The DRL's have nothing to do with the relay kit, they will still power on the HID's when the DRL's are on, so you will have to pull the DRL diode, which it looks like you have already done. All that being said, if you plan on getting a hi/low set of 9007 HID's (which I have) then you will need the harness to control the functionality, but this set automatically comes with the harness, so no need to order a second. So, long story short. Harness is precautionary, not necessary, but I would air on the side of caution and make sure your ballasts are getting the voltage they deserve but running the relay harness.

Decided to get the harness with the vvme kit, an extra 10 bucks not to bad to be on the safe side and not worry about it
Thanks for the help.
