I have a set of 6K H1 HID's and when I got them they seemed to work fine, but sometimes the driver bulb would randomly just not turn on. I thought at first the bulb was bad, but then other times it would come on as if nothing was wrong.
I then got a relay kit installed and that didn't affect anything.
Thinking the driver ballast might be the cause, I swapped ballasts to see if the random not coming on problem would then move to the passenger side (following the ballast). Oddly enough, that issue stopped completely.
NOW, the problem I have is that I'll be driving at night and BOTH headlamps will randomly shut off completely (in unison) for 1-2 seconds and then come back on. This has happened several times and the duration of time that they stay off seems exactly the same - just 1-2 seconds. When they come back on, they are at full brightness and don't seem to need "warming up" at all and I don't notice any flickering.
Does this sound like the ballasts are jacked? I can't think of any other component that could be causing this other than maybe the relay. I've checked all plugs and wires and everything seems fine.
