I have a 2001 GT and the shift solenoid is out and i am a do it yourself kind of girl but i never did anything with a trans before but i do know i can go on the driver side wheel and get to it but i need to know how to lower the subframe to get to it and take off the side of the trans so any help would help please.

so all i have to do is get the trans down anuff to get the cover off and it will be right there and one more thing will i have to replace anything when i take the cover off?

Sorry i dont know how this really works my bad all im trying to do is see if anybody was able to help me and your post to me helped but i dont know how to take off the subframe and i wanted to know if i needed anything eles when i took the cover off when i put it back on like a gasket or if any transmission fluid would come out and i need to get more and i didnt know there was to shift solenoids tell i just read that there was because autozone only gave me one.

Hi again. So anyone that can help please. But as i put on before the problem i had with my car i put it all in and put it back together and i tryed to drive it and it still wont move so i put a tester on it and wrote the old codes down and then erased them so i could retest it but now the service engine light wont come back on and its saying no codes so if anyone can help please help.

yes and i did finally got the engine light to come back on and it gave me the code P0742 the Torque Converter Clutch Circuit stuck on and when i called around to find the part no one knows what im talking about so any help with where i can get one and where it is in the car would help.

Which shift solenoid did you replace?

When you put it in gear does the engine speed dip a little like 100 - 200 RPM?

This would indicate that first gear is engaging but the TCC clutch is holding the tranny back.

Does the car shift into reverse?

Sounds like the TCC solenoid. That's what happened with one of my previous ones. They had to pull the tranny and clean it out. It actually ended up killing my TC.

Hi I havent been on in a little bit but i need some help. I never got my car going so im needing to see if anyone can tell me what trans I have in my car its a 2001 pon grandprix 3800 V6 ser II not the supercharge.

Like mentioned above, it may not be the soleniod. It can be a valve, the soleniod, something wrong in the converter itself, or wiring to the soleniod.

It would be tough for us to suggest a route to fix it, a trans shop diagnosis is probably the best suggestion at this juncture.

well im getting a new trans and putting it in because im tried of messing with this one and that is why i wanted to know what kind it was so its a 4T65E. thanks for every bodys help on here.
